The camera was designed for enthusiasts and semi-professional photographers looking to upgrade from the EOS 70D or break into full frame photography.

With its 24.2 megapixel resolution and advanced autofocus system, this powerful DSLR camera is ideal for capturing stunning photos and videos. Canon announced the Canon EOS 80D digital single-lens reflex camera on February 18, 2016.

It has the same MSRP for the body only. It has a 1.6x aps-c crop sensor, the same size as Canon Rebel cameras and the more advanced 7D series.

Functions of Canon 80D

The most notable feature of the 80D is the high image quality that the EOS 80D's sensor is capable of capturing.

Travel Photography

The 80D is capable of producing high-resolution imagery with notable clarity and minimal noise thanks to its 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 image processor.

Canon excels at creating user-friendly cameras. This is also true for the Canon 80D. Although it is not the most technically advanced camera in its class, it is very easy to use.

It is simple to use, responds quickly, and has excellent image quality thanks to internal processing. Without much editing, the tones look nice.

Only Fujifilm, in my opinion, has better built-in profiles. All of this makes it ideal for general all-around photography. It will also provide excellent company while traveling.

PROS

  • The body is tough, weather-resistant, and instantly recognisable.
  • Menus are less intimidating.

CONS

  • It only has one card slot.

Landscape Photography

With a 24.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, ISO 100-16,000 (H: 25,600) sensitivity, 7fps full resolution continuous shooting rate, 3fps silent continuous mode with reduced vibration, and 7fps full resolution continuous shooting rate, this Canon works well for landscape photography in the right hands.

With Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which can be fine-tuned for tracking sensitivity and speed for movies, you can achieve fast and accurate full-time continuous focus in Live View and Full HD movies, 45-point all-cross-type AF system with 27 f/8 compatible AF points. For high-quality images, a DIGIC 6 processor with 14-bit processing is used.

PROS

  • Dual Pixel Auto-Focus is more effective than ever.
  • The rear buttons on the 80D have been slightly redesigned.

CONS

  • Autofocus tracking easily loses your subject.

Vlogging

The core of the 80D is powered by 24.2-megapixels and an APS-C CMOS sensor. Although 4K video is not supported by this model, it can still shoot 1080p at 60 frames per second and is compatible with Canon's entire line of EF and EF-S lenses, giving you plenty of options.

There are also a plethora of third-party lenses to consider for even more lens options to suit your needs.

Improved auto-focus modes that outperform the AF modes on the 70D employ Dual Pixel CMOS auto-focus technology, which is as quick and easy to use as ever. A simple tap on the touchscreen fixes the subject as the focus of your video.

PROS

  • Menu system that is simple to use
  • Sharp LCD with vibrant colors
  • The touchscreen and tilt-flip options are well designed.

CONS

  • Price. It is not prohibitively expensive.
  • No 4K. Only the 80D supports 1080p HD.

Sport & Wildlife Photography

To shoot sports and wildlife on a Canon 80D, you'll almost certainly need a high ISO setting (start with 1600) to get a fast shutter speed with your lens at its widest aperture (low f/stop number).

You would benefit greatly from having a "fast" lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or f/4. Canon 80D is an excellent candidate for this type of photography; it will meet all of your needs in Sports Photography; there is no need to look for other cameras.

PROS

  • Low-light performance has been (slightly) improved.
  • Viewfinder coverage is complete.

CONS

  • The Canon 80D does not come with a lens hood.
