The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is a stylish mirrorless camera with excellent image quality, numerous shooting features, and a wide range of lenses that makes it an excellent choice.

Olympus Corp. announced it in February 2018. It has a 16MP Live MOS sensor as well as an updated Truepic VIII processor.

A 3-axis in-body image stabilization system, an updated 121-point contrast-detect autofocus system with face and eye detection, and a built-in pop-up flash are among the other features.

Functions of Olympus PEN E-PL9

The Olympus PEN E-PL9 has sophisticated exterior design and technology that allows you to easily capture artistic photos. See the list of its functions below.

Travel Photography

The PEN E-PL9 is intended to entice those looking to upgrade from a smartphone.

It has a full range of automatic and creative modes, as well as more advanced modes for those who want to learn more.

The E-gorgeous PL9's retro look makes it as much a fashion statement as a photographic tool.

The E-PL9 also has a tilting touchscreen. Because there is no option to attach a viewfinder, it is the only way to compose, so the 3in, 1.04 million pixel screen is adequate.

It can be pushed all the way forwards, making it useful for accurate selfie composition, though because the screen faces forwards underneath the camera, it cannot be mounted on a tripod at the same time.

PROS

  • Color options that are fashionable
  • Comes with an integrated pop-up flash
  • Image stabilization in-camera

CONS

  • There is no USB charging.
  • Battery life is limited to 350 shots.

Landscape Photography

The Olympus PEN E-PL9 lacks a viewfinder but does have a retractable screen that can be folded down 180 degrees.

If you do this, the screen will be facing down and the image side will be facing forwards. When you screw the camera onto a tripod or a selfie stick, you can barely see the screen.

The resolution of the screen is 1,040,000 pixels. Because there is no viewfinder, the camera's dimensions are reasonable at 3 inches or 7.6 centimeters.

The touch-sensitive screen can be used to move the autofocus field. This camera is a weak candidate for landscape photography.

PROS

  • Excellent noise performance
  • JPEGs straight from the camera are always great in result
  • Slim and appealing design.

CONS

  • There is no viewfinder.
  • There is also no environmental sealing.

Vlogging

Another best vlogging camera with a flip screen that is a vlogging-friendly camera that gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera aimed at photographers who have outgrown their smartphones or aspiring vloggers looking for a simple-to-use, high-quality camera.

Along with 4K video recording, there's a vlogger-friendly 3-inch, 1,040k-dot touchscreen that articulates 80 degrees up or 180 degrees down on its bracket for selfies and vlogs.

Because video is so important in today's world, especially for vloggers, the E-4K PL9's at 30fps is quite impressive for a camera of this size and price.

PROS

  • 4K video recording
  • The user interface has been enhanced
  • LCD with tilting touch.

CONS

  • The screen is a problem.

Sport & Wildlife Photography

Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras have always had a high dynamic range, and the E-PL9 is no exception. What's more, there's little to no difference between it and standard APS-C cameras.

That's great news for the E-PL9. A larger sensor is not required to benefit from good dynamic range.

It effectively eliminates noise, but at the expense of the details. Fortunately, you can reduce the amount of noise reduction or turn it completely off.

In RAW, you can, of course, manually adjust the balance between noise reduction and sharpness.

PROS

  • Autofocus is quick.
  • Burst shooting at 8.5 frames per second.
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both available.

CONS

  • The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is not a camera for the tropics. It could be ruined if used in harsh conditions.
